Thomas Jefferson Otis

When Thomas Jefferson Otis was born on April 21, 1887, in Canton, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA, his father, Sylvanus, was 53 and his mother, Sarah, was 23. He married Jane Milne Ritchie on July 20, 1912, in his hometown. They had one child, Thomas Ritchie Otis, during their marriage. His home address was 17 Lewis St, Canton, MA, and he was employed at Draper Brothers Woolen Mill as a Carder. During World War I, he had enlisted in the military as an Army Warrant Officer in 1918, and went to boot camp at Fort Devens in Harvard, Worcester, Massachusetts. When he got sick, he was taken to the Canton Hospital, and was under the care of Charles I. Porter, MD. He died as a young father on October 10, 1918, in his hometown, of the Spanish Flu with Pneumonia-Lobar (Influenza Pandemic of 1918). The undertaker was Harry S Graham of Canton, MA, and he was buried at Canton Corner Cemetery in the Otis Family Plot.
