Thomas Pierson, baptized 1620, St. James Chapel, Thornton, Bradford Parish, Morley Wapentake, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. The St.James Chapel was built in 1616. Thomas Pierson, a weaver by trade, was the younger brother of Rev. [The Bradford Cathedral Archives biographical history states that King George V ordered (Nov 1919) creation of the diocese of Bradford with the St. Peter parish Church of Bradford becoming the Bradford Cathedral, a Church of England.]

Thomas Pierson immigrated to Boston with his brother Abraham May 1639, Ship "Mayflower" in the fleet of ships owned by John Winthrop, Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Also on the ship was their cousin, Henry Pierson, who has been incorrectly identified as their brother. Henry Pierson was born 10 Dec 1618, Ripley, Claro, West Riding, Yorkshire, England, son of Henricus Pearsonne and Frances (maiden name unknown).

Henry Pierson married 1640 in Southampton, Suffolk, New York Colony, Mary Cooper, daughter of John and Wibros (Griggs) Cooper. They had eight children, all born in Southampton, L.I. New York. Henry Pierson died 17 May 1681 in Bridgehampton, Suffolk, NY. (Find.A.Grave memorial ID#196595463)

Thomas Pierson, brother of Rev. Abraham Sr. Pierson, was the 9th signer of the 30 Oct 1666 agreement to form a new township in New Jersey, called New Ark or Newark Plantation. As a Newark settler, Thomas Pierson received a 6-acre lot.

Thomas Pierson married Maria Harrison, daughter of Samuel and Hannah Harrison on 27 Nov 1662 in Branford, New Haven Colony. His age 42 and Maria's age 18. (Thomas may have had a previous marriage.)

Also married in 1662 in Branford , Thomas "Junior" Pierson (1642-1701), son of Rev. Abraham Sr. Pierson, to Mary Browne, daughter of John Browne, a Milford planter and also a Newark settler. (Possibly both Thomas and Thomas "Junior" Pierson were married on the same day by the Rev. Abraham Sr. Pierson, the Congregational Church minister.) Thomas "Junior" Pierson was also a Newark settler.

Thomas Pierson's father-in-law, Samuel Harrison, also received a Newark lot (non-signatory). Thomas Pierson's exact date of death is unknown. His last will and testament was dated 12 Jan 1698 and proved 3 Mar 1701.
