Weaver from Romsey, Hampshire, who cam to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 on the James (on or about 5 Apr 1635, "Thomas Smith of the same [Romsey], weaver," appeared on the passenger list of the James of London, preparing to sail for New England from Southampton). Settled in Newbury MA & died there 1 Nov 1680.
Thomas Smith married by about 1636 Rebecca ____. They had six children: Thomas, Rebecca Swett, James, John, Matthias, & Thomas again.
She married (2) after 1666 THOMAS HOWLETT {1630, Boston} & died at Newbury on 1 Nov 1680

From Romsey, Hants, England. Arrived at Boston in the "James" from Southampton, June 3, 1635, with wife Rebecca. Went to Ipswich, MA, thence to Newbury in 1638.
On June 6, 1666, after the death of Alice, Thomas Howlett, married Rebecca Smith, widow of Thomas Smith of Ipswich and Newbury, with his step-son, Thomas Smith, in 1671, choosing him as his guardian.
