Kirwin Kansan dated June 30, 1920 The people of Kirwin and community were shocked Wednesday morning to learn that Mr. Thomas Stanley died the evening before. He was taken sick Tuesday about 10 o'clock a.m. and a doctor was called soon after but he was not considered seriously sick. About 10 o'clock last night when he was sitting on his porch he dropped dead. The cause of his death was paralysis.

Thomas Stanley was born in King County, Ireland, April 3, 1849, and died at Kirwin, Kansas, June 29, 1920, aged 71 years, 2 months and 6 days. At the age of 16 years he crossed the sea and came to Ontario, Canada. January 14, 1873 he was married to Miss Caroline Coall.

To this union 9 children were born, two passed away in infancy. The seven remaining to mourn their father's death are: Mrs. Lena Deuel of Kirwin Mrs. Jane C. Stanley Angeroth Smith of Goodland (Born about 1876 in Illinois) (1905 Kansas census shows husband T. E. Smith born about 1871 in Missouri) Talbert Stanley of Phillipsburg Rev. George Leroy Stanley of Kirwin (Born about 1889 in KS) Richard Stanley of Chicago Mrs. Amelia Townley of Bow Creek Mrs. Edith P. Stanley Siglinger (King) of Phillipsburg (Born December 1893--Wife of Walter R. Siglinger--Married March 18, 1914 in Phillips County, KS)

Thomas Stanley came to Kansas March 5, 1884. He knew the ups and downs of a new country. He knew all about drouths and hard times, often having to leave home to get work to keep the family. He endured many hardships and deprivations to keep the home fire burning. After many years of earnest effort he has raised an exemplary family and gained a competence for the declining years of himself and wife.

He was a member of the Episcopal church, an honorable citizen, a good husband and father and true to his friends.

Besides his wife and the children mentioned above he leaves 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Kirwin Kansan dated July 7, 1920

The card of thanks is signed by Mrs. Caroline J. Stanley and family.
