I have sketchy info on a Thomas Sweet born abt 1732 who married a Frances Congdon born1739. They lived in Rhode Island, later moved to S. Berlin, Rensselaer Cty, N.Y. abt 1770. Thomas was reportedly a blacksmith and served in Revolutionary War. Only have info on my family tree which includes Samuel T. Sweet born 8 Jan 1765 who was son of Thomas and Frances. Let me know if that helps.
"Thomas became a Freeman in 1766. He served in the Militia during the Revolutionary War in Rhode Island under Captain Samuel Potter. In 1779, he sold his land, house and Blacksmith shop and moved to Albany County, NY (later Rensselaer). He settled in South Berlin and opend a Blacksmith shop near Sweet's Corner. Thomas died when he was accidentally struck by a falling tree." ~ findagrave.com
