About Thomas Tremberth

Worthington, Nobles, Minnesota, USA
Apr 17 1884, Page 2.

A blast in the Calumet & Hecla mine in the Lake Superior copper district, killed Thomas Tremberth and blinded Nicholas Johns. Tremberth leaves a family and eight children.

Name was also spelled "Trembette" on daughter Mary's birth certificate. Moved to Michigan in 1880 and lived previously in Ontario for some time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Trembaths came from St. Wenn in Cornwall, England. They also went to Penhallow, Perranzuloe, St. Enoder, St. Columb Major and Minor in Cornwall and some emigrated to America. There are also Trembaths on the Penwith penninsula in Cornwall, which are as yet, unconnected to this line. The surname TRENBATH derives from Tre-an-bagh meaning the homestead in nook or corner, where two roads meet or where two streams meet. TREMBETH means the homestead by the grave, TREMBERTH is the homestead by the bush and TREBARTHA is the house by the stream! There are several derivations for Trembath including: Trembeath, Trembleath, Trembeth, Trembaith, Trembleith, Trembreth, Trenbeath, Trenbeth, Trenbleath, Trimbeth, Trebleath, Tenbath, Tenbeath, Penbeath, Penbaith.

Information about Trembaths and Trembeths: http://www.ancestryhost.org/jeanajin/pages/trembathinfo.htm

Here is his listing in the 1871 Canadian census: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/census-1871/001101-119...

Also (spelled Thomas Trembreth): http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/1871-ontario/001016-11...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most likely possiblity:

1843 Son of William & Mary Redruth, is in 1851 age 8 and 1861 age 17 then no further record in this country which makes us think he left Cornwall We therefore believe this is your Thomas, especially as he called his first child William Thomas. Thomas's father William was baptised 1807 in St Wenn the son of Thomas (baptised 1782) & Elizabeth Elford who were married 1805 St Wenn. William married Mary Vena in St Wenn 1826 their first few children were baptised there before the family moved to Redruth.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another completely different possibility, his parents were John and Grace Tremberth, living in Goon Gumpas:

Possibly their marriage: TRENBIRTH John, to Grace NORTHEY, 20th Jan 1831

-----------------------------------------------------------

He is definitely not the son of Thomas Trenberth/Trembuth and Elizabeth Jane Vivian (brother of Alfred, Angelina, etc.; http://www.celtic-casimir.com/webtree/54626.htm).

-----------------------------------------------------------

He may be the son of William Trembath and Mary Vena, at this page: http://www.jeanajingenealogy.podserver.info/pages/trembath.htm
