        • (21) Sir Thomas Wentworth, Kt., of North Elmsall, was born about 1590, and was living in 1638, when he administered to the estate of his second wife, Martha, daughter of Sir Thomas Hayes, Lord Mayor of London, by whom he had two daughters, viz: Martha, who married, first, Thomas Wombwell, Esq., and secondly, Sir Henry Marwood; and Mary, who married Sir William Middleton, Bart., and died 11 September, 1667.

  • Sept 13, 1652. Sr Richard Hawkesworth of Hawkesworth. Mentions settled estates. As touching my estate within my power to dispose of, I give to Walter, my son, and his heirs, all my estate in Hawksworth and Menston, which I have leased from the Archbishop of York. I give to Sir Thomas Widdrington of Sargeants Inne, Kt., John Lambert of Coulton, Esq., John Bright of Carbrooke, Esq., Darcy Wentworth of Brodsworth, all my messuages in Ighley (Ilkley), Giseley (Giseley), Carlton, Clayton, Menston, Bayldon, for 200 years to pay legacies and debts, and then the rents to my son Walter. To Christopher Lister, my grandchild, L10 per ann. To Katherine Bright, my daughter, L100 Gold. To William Lister, her son, my grandchild, L100 at twenty-one. To Christopher Lister, her son, L200, and to Anne Lixter, her daughter, L300. To my grandchild Mary Bayldon, daughter of Francis and Jane Bayldon L10. To Katherine Bright, grandchild, L20. Married first, Ann, daughter of Thomas Wentworth of North Elmsall, by whom he had a daughter Katherine (married first to William Lister of Thornton, secondly to Sir John Bright of Badsworth, Bart.): he married secondly, Mary, daughter of Sir Henry Goodrick of Ribstone, by whom he had Walter and Jane, the wife of Francis Baildon, Esq.
