Thorvald “Thomas” Olson was born at Ft. Dodge, Webster County, Iowa 3 Dec 1874. He was the son of Sven Olson and his wife Ingeborg Torgerson Olson.

Sven, Ingeborg and family immigrated to the USA in 1873 from Norway.

The Olson family lived in Ramsey County, North Dakota and by 1910 they lived and farmed in Newborg Township, of Bottineau County, North Dakota.

The 1910 census shows that one, Kaia Henriet Karoline Sundstad was a common school teacher in Newborg Township. She was 23 years old and was a boarder with one of the families whose children attended her school.

She married Thorvald Olson on Christmas Day 1910 at the Mouse River Lutheran Church, Landa, Bottineau County, North Dakota.

Thorvald and Kaia became the parents of six children as follows: Agatha Bernhoft born 9 Nov 1911, Ruth Sundstad 14 May 1913-15 Jun 2003 (Edward Charles Peery 30 Mar 1902-7 Aug 1992), Sylvia born 8 Jun 1915, Everett Viktor born 18 Jul 1916 and Agnes Thelma born 5 May 1920.

Kaia passed away December 05, 1938.

Thorvald passed away at Moorhead, Minnesota 28 Jan 1962.

Three siblings have been identified for Thorvald, Lena 11 Jan 1878-9 Apr 1972 (Lars Peter Johnson 7 Sep 1857-26 Mar 1925), Louis Hilmer 28 May 1895-4 Feb 1981 (Amber Lee 1903-died at Renton, Washington) and Inga 14 Dec 1900- 10 Oct 1984 (Paul A. Troska 15 Jan 1897- 28 Nov 1972). There most likely are more siblings, but these are the only ones identified at this time.
