Ti Ong Son (b. 1681, d. 1761) is the youngest son of the elder Ti who was born in 1650 and lived up to the ripe age of 80, a descendant of Ti Hsin - last king of the Shang dynasty whose imperial ancestors had ruled China in all its grandeur and majesty.
Ti Ong Son's given name is Ong, Ti is his family name, and Son when affixed signify lower rank (Son means youngest; pronounced as "Sung")
His son, Tomas, after adopting a Christian name in compliance with the pertinent proviso of the Immigration Law during the Spanish government, made the whole composition of his Chinese name as surname perhaps to guide the future descendants of his true identity.
The family name
Ti, Te, Tee, and Ty are one and the same - variant unto self. The change in the structural character of the surname was dictated by the dialect of each province in China. The true meaning of Ti is EMPIRE (this is in accordance with the traditional classification of Chinese character based on the degrees of the tone).
