Vernon, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, Wash.
She was born in Keenes on Saturday, Aug. 19, 1933, a daughter of Kenneth and Edna (McKinney) Peyton. She married Dr. Andrew T. Caraker Sr. in Centralia in 1959, and he preceded her in death in 1983. She married Morris Gorelick on July 4, 1993, and he survives in Bellevue, Wash.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with Pastor David Fields officiating. Inurnment will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
There will be no visitation.
In addition to her husband, Morris Gorelick of Bellevue, Wash., Mrs. Gorelick is survived by a daughter, Lisa Joy and husband Barry of Mt. Vernon;
son, Andrew T. Caraker Jr. and wife Tammy of Winter Haven, Fla.; stepchildren, Andrew M. Caraker of Virginia, Paula Gorelick of Seattle, Brian Gorelick and wife Chris of Winston Salem, N. C., and Kenny Gorelick and wife Lindie of Beverly Hills, Calif.; grandchildren, Tyler Adams and Grant Garrett of Mt. Vernon amd Drew, Cassidy and Carter Caraker of Winter Haven, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Alex and Caitlin Joy of Mt. Vernon, David and John Gorelick of Winston Salem, N. C., and Max and Noah Gorelick of Beverly Hills, Calif.; great-grandchild, Kolten Caraker of Winter Haven, Fla.; step-great-grandchild, Cyrus Joy of Mt. Vernon; sister, Peggy Knowles and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Paul R. Peyton and wife Ruth of Danville and Joe F. Harrison of Kankakee; aunt and uncle, Wilma Dell and James Carlyn Springs of Marion; several nieces and nephews including a very special nephew, Kevin R. Parker and wife Kathleen and daughter Alaina of Glendale, Mo.; beloved dog Sam; and friend and caregiver, Bonnie Anderson.
Her parents; one son, Billy Lee; and aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Joe Harrison, whose home she was raised in, preceded her in death.
Tina took great joy and pride in raising her children as a stay-at-home mom. After the death of her husband Andrew Caraker, she worked at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon in the admitting department until moving to Seattle in 1985. She worked as a legal assistant to Barry Powell in Bellevue, Wash., until failing health. Tina was a sweet and gentle spirit, filled with love for her family and friends and will be deeply missed. She was very kind and generous, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion and was always thinking of others before herself.
