Toussaint Navarre was born in St. Antoine Parish in the River Raisin (Frenchtown) area of Monroe County, Michigan.

He married, first, Monique/Monica Navarre on 7 January 1833 in the River Raisin area of Monroe County. Toussaint and Monique were both grandchildren of Robert Navarre and Marie Louisa Marsaac.

Monique and Toussaint had eight children (all born in the River Raisin area of Monroe Co, MI): ...Wenceslaus Silas Navarre (known as Silas) 1833-1905 ...Sylvester Navarre (b. 1835) ...Isadore/Isidore Navarre (b. 1836) ...Helena/Ellen (1839-1881) ...Toussaint, Jr. (b. 1846) ...Alexander and Mary Julia (twins born c1851)

Toussaint's wife, Monique died in early 1863. On 25 November 1863, Toussaint remarried (again, in the River Raisin area), to Mary T. Gafney, the widow of Samuel Navarre (who was the son of Robert Navarre and Mary Suzor). Mary and her first husband, Samuel, had two children (Mary, b. 1850, and Elisabeth, b. 1856). Samuel died in 1858.

Toussaint and Mary had four children after they married in 1863 (all born in the River Raisin area of Monroe Co, MI): ...Robert Toussaint Navarre (1864-1911) ...Benedict Albert Navarre (b. 1866) ...David Navarre (b. 1869) ...Sarah Geneveva Navarre (1870-1922)

Toussaint Navarre died in 1873, leaving Mary with adult children from both her first marriage and Toussaint's first marriage, plus one minor daughter from her first marriage, plus four minor children from Toussaint and Mary's marriage.

Toussaint, and Monique and all of their children were born and raised in St. Antoine Parish (near Frenchtown, now the city of Monroe), Monroe County, Michigan). Toussaint and Mary Gafney's children were born and raised there, too.
