He was an assistant Tabernacle Organist from 1909 - 1930 in Salt Lake City. He left that position to run the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Elsie Ritter (died 1907) and Lettie Taylor (died 1935). His third marriage was on April 19, 1943 to LDS President Gordon Bitner Hinckley's older sister, Caroline.
