Vernon Kahle, 86

Vernon A. Kahle, 86, retired Litchfield area farmer, died 4:08 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Litchfield, Pastor William Zanton, officiant. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Litchfield.

Visitation will be the hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, is handling the arrangements.

Born Aug. 29, 1920, he was a son of August and Sophia (Hartke) Kahle.

He married Norma Orten Aug. 20, 1948, in Litchfield and she survives along with a sister, Alma Lange of Virden; nephews Robert (wife, Pamela) Lange of Virden and Raymond (wife, Shirley) Lange of Springfield; cousins Clara Nieman, Charles Bierbaum and Howard Hartke, all of Litchfield, Carolyn Wolfe of Gillespie, Rolane Henke of Staunton, Oliver Hartke of Mt. Olive, Helen Kirchner of St. Louis, MO, Lois Senter of Washington, MO, Marie Hayes of East Liverpool, OH, JoAnn Dennis of Rock Island, Leon Bierbaum of Denver, CO and Wilma Zimmerman of Texas; two great nieces and one great-nephew.

He was a retired farmer and member of Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Litchfield. He was also treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Litchfield.
