Star News (Pasadena, California) – July 9, 1968 Rites Slated For Writer on Medicine Funeral Services will be held Wednesday for Mrs. Viola Lockhart Warren, wife of the founding dean of the UCLA School of Medicine and a noted medical historian. Mrs. Warren died last Wednesday following a long illness at her Pacific Palisades home. She was 71. Her husband, Dr. Stafford L. Warren, requested that memorial donations be sent to the UCLA Medical Center Auxiliary. Among the volumes Mrs. Warren wrote were "Early California Medical Men," "Muskets and Medicine," and "Dragoons on Trial, Los Angeles, 1847." She had been active in a number of organizations, including the Women's Auxiliary of the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the UCLA Medical Center Auxiliary, Medical Faculty Wives, Friends of the Library, the Women's league of Voters and the Historical Society of Southern California. Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Westwood Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Warren leaves her husband; a sister, Mable Lockhart of Berkeley; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Ritchie Larson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and two sons, Dean Warren of Washington, D.C.; and Roger Warren of Pittsburgh, Pa. submitted by Chloe Perdew
