Waldemar Strauss (1971 - 2013)

Brief overview:

Waldemar (42), was shot dead, execution style, in front of his 11 year-old son, on 6 March 2013. Four armed attackers gained access to their Dana Bay home, the Moquini Coastal Estate, around 03h00.

According to Capt. Bernadine Steyn, Southern Cape SAPS Corporate Communication, the men entered the house armed with firearms and knives. "The suspects allegedly went to the couple's 11-year-old son's room first after which they took him to his parents' room.

The suspects woke the couple up and two of the suspects then took the female victim to the ground floor to open the safe." It is believed the wife was then tied up. "The husband was requested to open the safe in the bedroom after which he was shot." He died on the scene.

The murderers escaped with several stolen articles, including a .270 hunting rifle, .22 rifle, 9mm pistol and a .38 revolver, as well as cellular phones and jewellery. "The police opened a murder and house robbery docket for investigation. No arrests have yet been made."
