Wallace Harry Hardy, 70, of the Durand Community, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange. Funeral services were 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hardy was born September 27, 1943 in LaGrange, the son of Harry Hill Hardy and Addie Louise Chambless Hardy. He was a retired educator having taught at West Georgia Technical School and Troup County High where he also served as the DCT Coordinator. Mr. Hardy earned his Master's Degree and Specialist Degree in Education from West Georgia College. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA 42). He was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Durand. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ann and was an automobile enthusiast .
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ann Edge Hardy of the Durand Community; his daughter, Elizabeth Adeline Hardy of Denver, CO; his son, David Hardy and his wife, Melanie of Silverdale, WA; two grandchildren, Caroline and Catherine Hardy of Silverdale; one sister, Sara Couch and her husband, Bill of Durand; one niece, Carmen Burrows of Pine Mountain; one nephew, Max Couch of Canton, GA and three great nephews.
