RIVERINE HERALD PUBLISHED DAILY ECHUCA: SATURDAY, NOV, 15, 1930 Trapped by Fall of Earth- A fall of two tons of earth almost completely buried Walter Oldham (34), contractor, of Echuca, while working on Thursday afternoon at Pearce's sandpit on the Terrick's road, 12 miles from Echuca. He was stand- ing near a truck when the side of the pit fell in and covered him up to the neck. Two employees who wore with him were unable to lend immediate assistance as their shovels had been buried by the fall. They ran to Weir's pit a frew chains away and with the assistance of two others were able to dig Oldham out in a short time. It was found that he was suffering from a broken leg and that a large stone was resting against his chest. He was hurried to the Ecliuca District Hospital where he was admitted for treatment. Last night his condition was reported to be satisfactory.
