Served in the Indain Wars and rose to rank of Colonel.

Sent to Iron County by Bigham young where he assisted in building the Parowan Canal.

He brought the first reaper to American Fork, Utah.

A director and one of the first organizers of Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution, Salt Lake City, Utah and Provo Woolen Mills, Provo, Utah.
