See newspaper articles of the time about her mother's supposed marriage to a Robert LIEDWELL (who doesn't seem to have actually existed, & mom's father was Robert Lidwell BROWN so we see where the name may have come from). In 1912, mom was dating William GILLETTE per newspaper articles, and I would guess that her first name reflects the fact that he was the actual father.

Living in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, etc, Wauna went by both LIEDWELL and PAUL, the latter seems to have been a stage name?
