About Wawrzyniec Myszkowski h. Jastrzębiec

1507 - Royal Courtier 1527 - Castellan at Oswiecim Castle 1530 - Castellan at Biecz Castle 1535 - Castellan at Sacz Castle Mayor of Kurzelów Governor of Miedzyrzecki

In 1532, Wawrzyniec Myszkowski, who was a wealthy Polish nobleman, received from King Sigismund I the privilege to establish a fish pond between Piotrowice royal village, a village Polanka Wielka (40 km west of Krakow), which belonged to him.

Wawrzyniec Myszkowski had a dispute over the use of pond water with Jan V of Zator. Wawrzyniec Myszkowski murdered Jan V on 17 September 1513. The reason for the murder was very banal: water from the pond in Myszkowski's lands, who was given free to the townspeople by Jan V's orders, resulting in a significant financial loss to Myszkowski.

For the murder of Jan V of Zator (in 1513), Wawrzyniec was sentenced to banishment Myszkowski, and for heroism at the Battle of Orsha was pardoned by the king.
