Wesley W. Siegenthaler Sr. Wesley W. Siegenthaler Sr., 100, of Green, passed away April 16, 2009.
Born in Canal Fulton, he was an area resident all of his life. Wes graduated from Uniontown H.S. in 1928. The year he graduated he took first place in the mile and was runner up for the½;mile at the state track finals. Wes worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., was owner operator of the Dinner Bell Restaurant, an auctioneer, and for many years an insurance agent. He was a member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church and a current member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lake Grange 1744, the Hartville Coin Club, and for eight years Wes served on the Green School Board of Education. Wes was known for being a "Handsome Man". He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, collecting antiques, and winters in Flordia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina; daughter, Sylvia; grandson, Ronald; and son-in-law, Del Haefka. Wes is survived by his devoted children, Wesley Jr., Pearl Haefka, Faye (Bill) Evans, and Gloria Brown; grandchildren, Randall Haefka, Cindy Cash, Sandy Mercer, Larry Sharrock, Bill and Jeff Evans, Terri and Larry Brown, Wesley III and Steven Siegenthaler; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown, where funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Hancock officiating. Burial East Liberty Cemetery.
