This profile represents the wife of Thomas Folland/Falland; about whom little is known. We don't know her given name or her surname, or anything else about her origins. What we know about her husband and children point to her being born in England, i.e. the people who settled Plymouth Colony were from England; as well, during this time period, migrants to this part of New England were from England; and her daughter Mary Folland married a man who was born in England.

Her husband migrated to Yarmouth, Plymouth Colony in 1639;[1]he was propounded as a freeman of Yarmouth on March 3, 1639/40.[2]but whether she migrated with him is not known since neither the immigration paperwork, nor the ship he arrived on, have not been found.

A record has not been found for a second marriage of Thomas Folland, and since 1627 is the estimated birth year of the second daughter, the assumption is that the following children were born in England during Folland's first marriage to this unknown wife -

1. Thomas Folland Jr. had no children. He was named in his father's will, dated Oct 1, 1686 and proved May 31, 1687. In Thomas Jrs. will, dated Nov. 23, 1721 and proved Jan. 18, 1721/2, he bequeathes "To my cousin Thomas Whelden of Yarmouth... To my cousin Elizabeth Whelden... To my cousin Jonathan Whelden of Yarmouth."[4]
2. Mary Folland b. about 1627, m. John Whelden about 1653, d between May 20, 1711 and Nov. 23, 1721;[5]May 20, 1711 she was named in her sister's (Elizabeth) will and Nov. 23, 1721 she was not named in her brother's (Thomas) will. Mary was however, named in her father's will dated Oct. 1, 1686 and proved May 31, 1687. "...To my daughter Mary, wife of John Whilding, 5s."[4]
3. Elizabeth made a will on May 20, 1711 and died just before July 10, 1714. She was named her sister Mary (Folland) Whelden and brother Thomas Folland. She was named in her father's will dated Oct. 1, 1686 and proved May 31, 1687. "...To my daughter Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Hall..." Elizabeth's first husband was Samuel Hall who d. 1696. Elizabeth m. (2nd) on Apr 27, 1699 to Jeremiah Jones[6] who d. at Yarmouth Nov. 4, 1705. Elizabeth's will dated May 20, 1711 as "Elizabeth Jones, widder woman." of Yarmouth, bequeathed to her "brother Thomas Folland, her cousin Elizabeth Whelden, the daughter of my sister Mary, and cousin Mary Wheelden, the daughter of Thomas Wheelden."[4]It is clear she had no children from either marriage.[6]
4. Deborah named in her father's will; seems at that time to be unmarried as she is listed with surname "Folland."[3]

Since no records have been found for Unknown Folland, Thomas Folland's wife, it can be assumed that she died before 1639 in England.

Research Notes

In trying to estimate the birth of Folland's wife: it is thought her son, Thomas Jr., was the oldest child, but since his his date of birth is unknown, an estimation of his mother's date of birth can't be deduced from that. Her second child is believed to be Mary (Folland) Whelden; her estimated date of birth is 1627. So a very rough estimate of Thomas Folland's wife could possible be 1605.

A record for a second marriage for Thomas Folland/Falland has not been found, so all four children are listed as having this Unknown wife of Thomas Folland as their mother.
