About Willadean Mae Blackmore
Willadean "Willie" Blackmore, age 90, died Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Monday, December 29, 2008, at 2:00 P.M., at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls with The Rev. Pat Ireland officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.
The daughter of William H. and Edna Auker Shelabarger, Willadean Mae Shelabarger was born June 24, 1918, in Pawnee City, Nebraska.
She graduated from high school in Pawnee City in 1936. She and Joe Drawbridge were married and divorced. She and Howard Wright were married and later divorced. She and Wilbur Blackmore were married and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a baker. She made and decorated many birthday, wedding, and other special occasion cakes. She was, also, a seamstress who altered and patched clothes for many people. She and her daughters worked in the Fruit of the Loom factory in Oklahoma.
She was a member of the Methodist Church having been baptized as a child in Pawnee City. She had been a member of the Embroidery Club and Garden Club. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center when she was able. She is survived by two sons: Gary Drawbridge of Mooreland, OK. and Billy Wright of Woodward, OK.; two daughters: Anne Morris of Macon, MO. and Patsy Cutsinger of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; two half-sisters: JoHarlene Schultz and Donna Thiemann of Pawnee City, NE; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers in infancy and two daughters: Shelly Brothers and Peggy Wright.
There will be no formal family visitation.
