It was Willard who drew my parents to Berkeley in 1930. He was established there as president of the Federal Land Bank. This was remarkable since he did not attend college.
He had the very sad experience of being widowed twice as a young man, his first wife in childbirth giving birth to Junie's husband, Willard. The second to a sudden brain aneurysm, leaving two very small children. One of his sons is Frank, the retired physician, octogenarian world hiker.
