William (Bill) Louis Hawkins, 83 [sic], of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was born on April 7, 1935 in Bloomington, Indiana the son of George and Audrey (Abbott) Hawkins.

He Married Ruth Ann West on June 14, 1956 in Bloomington. They had two daughters and were happily married for 61 years. Bill worked for Rogers and then IMI in Bloomington for 45 years retiring in 1997. He proudly served in the US Army in 1957 to 1959, when he received an Honorable discharge and returned to civilian life and his previous employment at Rogers/IMI. While in the US Army he was awarded Medals for Good Conduct and Sharpshooter (Rifle). Bill loved Bluegrass Music, Country Music, Gardening and watching the wildlife, such as the Deer and Wild Turkeys that frequently visited around his home, that he built in the woods off Russel Road in the 1970s. In his earlier years he frequently took his family camping, McCormicks Creek State park, was a favorite nearby destination. He also liked to read books about US History and Nature. He enjoyed rock collecting and Family vacations were often spent on long road trips to destinations such as Yellowstone Park, Badlands National Park in South Dakota, Smokey Mountains and visiting historical destinations such as homes of former Presidents, such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson.

In later life, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his three Grandsons. Bill could often be found at their sporting events, cheering them on! In his retirement he bought a minivan, so he would be able to transport his Grandsons and their friends to their sporting events. In the last two years he was able to help welcome into the World his Great Grandchildren and took pride in watching the great young men that his Grandsons became. Bill will be greatly missed by his Family and all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife; Ruth Ann, two daughters; Diane (Rich) Hubel, Lisa (Randy) Mosier; three grandsons and their wives; Tommy (Kristina) Mosier, Nick (Brandi) Mosier and Justin Mosier; two great grandchildren; Haven and Kane Mosier.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. old St Rd 37 Bloomington. With Justin Mosier officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11;00am to 1:00pm Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Funeral Home.
