About William "Buck" Womack
Professor William Womack, Principal of the English Dept. of Mt. Lebanon University. He was born near Powelton, Hancock Co., Georgia, April 19,1817. He received the most of his education at the celebrated High School, long conducted by Rev. Otis Smith. As a citizen he was patriotic, as a friend devoted, as a scholar thorough, as a teacher faithful and painstaking, as a writer correct, clear and pointed. He died in the triumphs of the gospel, giving ample evidence of entire resignation to the Divine will. He leaves a affectionate wife and nine interesting children and a large circle of friends to mourn his untimely death.
