About William Chellew

William Chellew, a Miner, employed in the south end of the Calumet & Hecla mine, met with a serious accident on the 10th, from the effects of which he died on the 15th.
While employed hoisting rock with a winze at the bottom of shaft No. 2, a stick of square timber fell down the shaft, striking him upon the side, breaking one of his legs in three places and injuring him internally.
Mr. Chellew retained his consciousness until death, and realizing the fact that he could not recover, he sent for his wife and Children.
He was buried Sunday.
