William Clipsby, of Clippesby

"I am a metal detectorist from north yorkshire, and yesterday i found a bronze armorial seal

“le scel de jehan [clepes]by” = the seal of John Clepesby - my reading of the surname is conjectural, but guided by the arms of Clippesby, of Norfolk: quarterly argent and sable on a bend gules three pierced mullets of the first."

The photo attached to this profile is of the seal Darren found. Apparently, Norfolk is far from North Yorkshire so it's a puzzle as to how the seal got there.
