About William Crush Daldy
Capt Daldy was the first person to pay Customs duty in Auckland. He owned the ‘Shamrock’, and inter-colonial trading vessel. He was the first Chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, and the present (1940) Harbour Board’s tug is named in his honour. His likeness is in the Old Colonists Museum, Auckland.
William Crush Daldy & Frances Harriet Daldy are buried near each other in the Symonds Street Cemetery, Auckland ... Presbyterian section on the other side of Symonds Street and lower down. You can read the inscriptions from the footpath.
