William B. Davis, Who Died Recently at Pleasant Green, Was One of the Pioneers Who Carried the Mail in Cherokee Strip
BOONVILLE, MO., Mar 19,---
The recent death of William B. Davis of Pleasant Green took one of the last of the "Pony Express" riders.
Davis's experience included riding the mail through the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma, the battle of Wilson Creek, and helping develop the Southwest, according to his autobiography made public by relatives following his death. Davis was born May 20, 1854, in Christian County, Missouri, and moved to Cooper County in 1873.
