About William Henry Dick

The Perry Mirror
Thursday
March 9, 1922

William Henry Dick was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, on the 3rd of September, 1841; died at the home of son, Isaiah Dick of Carbondale, Kansas, March 2, 1922, having attained the mature age of 80 years, five months and 29 days. In the community of his childhood, he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Roy, who preceded her husband to the heavenly home August 5, 1897, and since that time he has been making his home with his children, who did everything possible for the comfort of their father. From the home of his youthful days, Brother Dick, with his young wife, pushed out to the frontier to establish a home and try the unexperienced hardships of the raw western life. They settled in Jefferson county, where they toiled bravely together, living happily in their first home until the death of his wife.
Ten children were born into this happy home, six of whom survive. They are: J.M., of Freeville, N.Y.; Mrs. Dora EVANS, Wapato, Wash., M.H., Perry, Kansas; Mrs. Ciller WINANT, Oskaloosa, Kansas, Isaiah of Carbondale, Kansas; Mrs. Tena WORTHINGTON, Argentine, Kansas. There are also five brothers, one sister, thirty grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, with a large host of friends who will mourn the death of their old friend.
Mr. DICK early sought a Savior's love and united with the Christian church, and in his faith he went to the life beyond. He was a good old man, and an interesting history of hardships, love, toil and blessings of a kind providence. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of all.
Funeral services were held at the home of his son Milt Dick, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.H. Oliver, pastor of the M.E. Church at Perry, and the interment was held at the Buster cemetery.
