About William Emerson, Sgt

Biography

According to Charles Henry Pope, William Emerson "resided in Methuen. Served in the Colonial army on the Crown Point expedition in Capt. Samuel Gerrish's company (of Newbury) September 5 to December 17, 1755; also in Capt. Mooer's company, Col. Bayley's regiment, for the reduction of Canada, May 2 to October 29, 1758; 15 days' travel home allowed." [1] According to Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors William Emerson served as a Sargent and drummer in the Militia of York Maine.[2] William Emerson was bp 1 Apr 1722 to Joshua Emerson and Mary Clark. ("Emerson: William, s. Joshua and Mary, bp Apr. 1, 1722. C.R.1.)[3][4][1][5] He married Abigail Pattee the daughter of Richard Pattee and Abigail (Beale) Pattee on 14 Jul 1746 in Methuen, Massachusetts.[4][1][5]("Emerson, William and Abigail Patee, July 14, 1746").[6] William Emerson died 14 Feb 1782.[1]
