-Served in Company B, 114th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the American Civil War.

-Enlisted August 7, 1862, in Circleville, OH. Served as a private.

-In December of 1862, his regiment joined Gen. Sherman's army which was at that time fighting the Battle of Vicksburg.

-On December 27th and 28th was severely engaged in battle at Chickasaw Bayou, losing several in killed and wounded.

-Was honorably discharged February 24th, 1863 in Columbus, OH on surgeon's certificate of disability.

-Entered the Ohio Veterans Home on October 31st, 1913, in Sandusky OH.

-Admitted to the hospital on July, 23, 1915 for "disease of heart and edema of lungs and legs".

-He died on January 18th, 1916 at 12:50PM with the cause of death being "organic disease of the heart".
