This is all the information I have and the source for William Fairfax Sr's Rev War Service and his eldest son Jonathan Fairfax. It states he provided "Wheat".

FAIRFAX, William (c1720 - 1793) Took the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 [Ref: AA-641]. Rendered patriotic service by providing wheat for the use of the military in July 1782 [Ref:N-531, which listed the name as Farfax"]. William Fairfax married first Benedicta Blancett, second to Elizabeth Buckner, and died in Virginia before Dec. 8, 1793 [Ref: J-I:983].

FAIRFAX, Jonathan, Private,Militia, 26rth Battalion, Capt. Francis Mastin's Company, 1777 [Ref:X-78]. Took the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 [Ref:L-16,AA-641]. Resident of Durham Lower Hundred in 1778 [Ref:Q-I:297]. Rendered patriotic service by providing wheat for the use of the military in May 1788 [Ref:N-597].
