About William Henry Flyger
William Henry Flyger, full age, bachelor, was a mariner, son of John Flyger, house agent. Parents were John (lighterman) & Isabella, of 12 Castle St. This couple seem to have had children baptised, mostly in Poplar, between about 1813-1830.
Settlers who were qualified to serve as Jurors for the District of Port Nicholson, (Wellington) New Zealand, on 10th February 1843:

Grave and Monument
His grave is in Bolton Street Cemetery and his monument is part of the memorial trail of the cemetery.
In 1919 the marble statue of Liberty replaced an earlier monument. It was vandalised during relocation when the motorway was built and is poignantly depicted in a watercolour painting by artist Rita Angus.
