About William Gillespie

The family moved to Joliet, Will Co. IL and in 1856 joined " the colony" moving westward by wagon train to Council Bluffs, IA. Here Wm. Gillespie died of pneumonia and Mary took the family to Omaha and later to Forest City in Sarpy County. Late in 1857 they moved to Nebr. City, Otoe County, NE. In 1862, they returned to Forest City and commenced farming. Mary died on Febr. 24,,1889 at the age of 76 and is buried in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Gretna, Sarpy County NE.
