OWENSBORO MESSENGER INQUIRER OBITUARY - 10/27/2000 William A. "Ott" Hardesty, 79, 2767 Wayside Drive East, Owensboro, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Whitesville native retired as a furniture finisher from Hon/Murphy Miller Chair Co. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edna M. Hardesty; six sons, Dennis Hardesty and Jim "Moe" Hardesty, both of Owensboro, Mitch Hardesty of Minneapolis, Chris Hardesty of Louisville, Joe Hardesty of Indianapolis and Bill Hardesty of Henderson, Nev.; six daughters, Charlene Crump, Joni Blair, Vickie Osborne and Monti Lanham, all of Owensboro, Shirley Ralph of Minneapolis and Terri Canales of Radcliff; 42 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Hardesty of McHenry; and three sisters, Georgia Tipmore of Owensboro, Queenie Horn of Louisville and Geraldine Jarnigan of Orlando, Fla. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
