About William Samuel Hogge
William Samuel Hogge, 1812-1852
- came to Cape Colony as Captain of 7th Dragoon Guards in June 1843 and was stationed at fort Cox on Keiskamma River.
- He resigned from Army and returned to England in 1848.
- However he returned to the Cape Colony in 1851 as British assistant Commissioner to help solve problems on Eastern Cape border and in Orange River Sovereignty.
- Major William Samuel Hogge signed Sand River Convention on behalf of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
