About William Jordan

"Robert Jordan son of Samuel Jordan was born in 1717. He was a baron and on account of his oath of loyalty to the King of England, it is said that he was a Loyalist in the Revolutionary War and persuaded his young son, Robert Jr., not to join the Revolutionist. '''His other two sons, William and Henry, were soldiers in the Revolutionary War and crossed the Delaware with Washington.'''
After selling land in Lunenburg Co., Va. July 8, 1795, William Jordan left Va. with his numerous family, his stock and household goods and went to Kentucky. There he remained until 1796. William Jordan had married Sarah (Sallie) Wood, daughter of Stephen and Ann Johnson Wood, who was the daughter of Joseph Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Walker. They had nine sons and three daughters, all of whom came with them to Tenn. William built a house on the property that he had bought which is located on Possom Trott Road. This is about one mile off Nolensville Road two miles south of Triune.
About 1830 the house that William had built burned and a fine house was built by his son Archer which still stands today..."
