About William M. Krueger

Willie Krueger, the Rural Mail Caarrier for the village of Reedsville for many years. He is the one that asked the many Kruegers of the area to start using two middle initials so that he could deliver the mail to the right Kruegers, and soon the practice began that all Krueger descendants had two middle names.

In his early days of mail deliveries, he used horse and buggy or wagon and a sleigh or snow cutter in the winter. In those days many articles were purchased from the mail order houses, especially Sears and Wards. That is why wagons or sleighs were necessary at times. Later he purchased a car for late spring to late fall or until the snow clogged the roads. Then it was back to horses again. They did not have the large snow removal equipment then that is used now dayd.

He was also noted for buying Western Broncos for his mail deliveries, for the horse's toughness and eudurance in bad weather. These Broncos were usually young and spirited and a challenge for his horsemanship. In family gatherings he would hold the interest of his listeners with the many stories concerning his many varied horse experiences on his rural routes in snow and mud.
