About William Harrison Livermore
He was educated at the Blackwood Academy, and was a farmer until 1863, when he moved to Iowa City, Iowa. He soon after enlisted in company D., 44th regiment, Iowa Vols. (Captain Charles E. Borland), going down the Mississippi and doing duty at Tennessee, Island No. 10, and norther Mississippi. At the close of the war, he returned to Iowa, and in a few months returned to New Jersey and became a farmer again in Almonesson.
In 1873 he was elected surrogate of Gloucester Co., and reelected in 1878 and 1883.
He afterwards removed to Woodbury, where he served three terms as councilman.
In 1892, he was private secretary to Dr. George G. Green, the walthy manufacturer of proprietary medicines.
He is a member of numerous societies, including (as a charter member) General Howell Post, No. 31, G.A.R.; he was also a member of company E, 6th regiment, N.G. of New Jersey, and of the Union League Club of Philadelphia. Residence, Woodbury.
