Per a letter from my Uncle, Bruce Lowe to my Aunt Anne Sauls, William James Lowe was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was one of nine boys, and there is no mention of any girls. His father owned a shipbuilding factory in Glasgow.
I have yet to find any records of a birth in Edinburgh records of a William James Lowe circa 1865.
William James Lowe Married Rose Alice Schrantz on Friday February 12, 1909 on the stage at the Dubuque Grand Opera House after a performance of Carmen by the Van Dyke-Eaton Company. He was a musician in the orchestra, and the audience was invited to stay after the performance to witness the ceremony. They were married by Justice Henry Buckley. It made the newspaper, with the sub headline "Event an Unusual One".
