As a matter of interest to the family. On the 1861 Census above. The lodger Catherine Lamb returned from USA after the death of her parents, and before her marriage, she took lodgings with William & Margaret Mackie in Blantyre. Catherine is my 3rd great aunt on my father's side of the family and it just so happens that William Mackie is my 3rd great uncle on my mother's side. Since they were both born in Blantyre I'm assuming they probably knew each other as children. (added by Sheila Scott Wales)
