About William John Bohn Millard
According to Thelma Millard Hurst, William was known to be a cabinet maker, however the 1901 census lists him as a foundry worker.
His various addresses include:
1889 - 298 Montreal Street Kingston Ontario Canada
1895 - Quebec Street Kingston Ontario Canada
1901 - 79 Pine Street [confirmed by Canadian census of 1901]
The following is from Denny Milligan, great grandson of William John Bohn Millard; William John Bohn Millard was my great grandfather. I thought he died on 25 May 1936, not the 23 in Kingston and is buried in the Cataraqui Cemetery just outside Kingston. (My granddad was William John Thomas Millard from Kingston, Ontario, Canada where I was raised until 1950 when we moved to the US when I was 12.) His wife was Ellen Elizebeth Hinman (not Inman as some have stated--they were cockneys so didn't pronounce their "H"s. They were married in Walthingstow on 6 August 1882 (where my granddad was born). William's father was Alfred Aaron Millard, a carpenter/joiner (born 26 June 1833 in Wells, Somerset, England and married 6 July 1858) and his mother was Harriet Elizebeth Bohn. He worked with Thomas Hinman Ellen (my great grandmother)'s parents were Thomas Martin Hinman (born 4 June 1827) and Mary Ann Garraway (born 4 January 1824). Thomas was also a carpenter/joiner/cabinet maker. The Bohn's were quite interesting--and well-off. John Henry Martin Bohn was born in Germany in 1757, came to London in 1790 and started his own bookbinder business in Soho (few blocks west of Covent Gardens). He was married to Elizabeth Dundas grandaughter of Deil Watt, the Dundee shipbuilder (cousin of James Watt). Bohn was quite a famous bookbinder and there are some of his signed examples of his bindings in the British Museum (some may be in the British Library, but I haven't been there yet). He was quite wealthy and his actual Will--written in Old English so it's not easy to read
