William R. was born October 9, 1887, in Sioux County to George Moir and Mary Tucker. He served in the military in World War I and was a member of the American Legion.
William married Nellie Wynia May 5, 1920 at Ocheyedan, Iowa. She died August 26, 1967. William farmed in the Maurice area and had lived at a care center in Sioux City for the past five years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors are one son, Donald, of Merrill; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Brown of Salix; one brother, Glenn of LeMars; one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Ethel) Laughton of LeMars; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Moir was preceded in death by his wife and infant daughter Dorothy. His parents; four brothers and two sisters.
