About William Pendal
According to "Soldiers in King Phillips's War," 3rd edition, Boston 1906 p.443 by George Madison Bridge. William Pendell was probably born in England. He joined in a local militia unit, He was number 124 on the list of volunteers, from a town then called Buluntown, to join in the war against the Pequoit Indians.
In 1676, In recognition of his service in" King Phillip's War, he was granted a parcel of land in the territory probably taken from the Indians.
According to " Genera; Dictionary of First Settlers of New England," by Savage. vol 3 R929 SA92G he married in 1676. Mehitable Parker, daughter of Ralph and Susanna (Keeney) Parker, formally of Gloucester Mass 1647 Ralph Parker was a master mariner and merchant, who moved to New London Connecticut in 1651. and died there in 1683. Susanna Keeney was the daughter of William Keeney.
William Pendell was known as a mariner and shipwright in New London by 1679. He and Mehitable (parker) Pendell had children, Jonathan baptized 12 23 1677, John baptized 11 1679, Richard baptized 4 29 1683. Susanna (Freeman) b 1681, William Jr. m Mary Haines on Sept 8 1712 and drowned Sept 6 1714. They had one son, also named William Pendell b. 11/10/1713 (Acc. to Hempstead Diary, "William drowned fishing, Fell out of a small boat in the)(horse race catching blue fish. None but Samuel Fox, ye youngest with him."
