William Perdew III was an early settler of Washington County, OH.
Marietta Times, Nov. 26, 1977 William Perdew, one of the earliest settlers of the interior of Warren Twp., was born in 1785(?) in Pennsylvania. When he was 17, he came to Wood County, (WV.) where he stayed about six months before moving to Washington County where he lived until his death Jan. 5, 1869.
In 1815, Perdew married Susanna Harris, who was born in New York in 1795 and died Feb. 12, 1880. The two, the history says, were earnest members of the Methodist church and labored faithfully for the upbuilding of the church (Tunnel) in the community.

William and Susanna (Harris) Perdew were natives of old Fort Cumberland, PA. and New York State, respectively. They settled on the Big Stillwater, OH., on arriving in this state in 1806. William Perdew also came to Washington County, in 1806, and settled in Warren township.
In 1815, he was married to Susanna Harris, who was born in NY.
They had 12 children, as follows: Susan; Charles; Rebecca' Luther' Mary Ann; William W.; Henry; Moses; Diantha; and three who died young.
