William Threatt Poe

William Threet Poe had three wives. His first two wives Sarah Reynolds and Rosty Reynolds were sisters. Rosty had been married to Thomas Poe (William Threet's brother) until his death. Thomas's children and W.T.'s children were raised together. William Threet Poe lived in Pickens County, Alabama, where he probably met the Reynolds' as it is one of the few places in the census reports they may be found.

The Reynolds probably came from Northern South Carolina along the Pee Dee River downstream from where the Poe's were settled in Anson County, North Carolina. After the Civil War William Threet redeemed many of his relative's lands by paying the taxes.

William Threet Poe was the son of John Poe and Sarah Threet. Known as "Uncle Billy" by family and "Judge Poe" by the community. He ran a mercantile store in the community of Belfast. He was also County Treasurer for Saline County soon after the family arrived around 1852 from Fayette Co. Alabama.
