William M. Robert, 93, of Ellington, loving husband of 50 years of the late Ethel (Litz) Robert, passed peacefully at The Residence at South Windsor Farms on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

He was born in East Hartford, the son of the late George and Genevieve (Hagen) Robert, but lived most of his life in Ellington.

William served in the U.S. Army Airforce during WWII as a radioman on B-17's and B-24's. After he was discharged he went to Dettenborn College where he learned to be a master woodworker.

He worked at Kaman Aircraft making wooden helicopter blades when he started out. After retiring from there he worked at Rice Packaging as a pattern maker.

William had a passion for antiques-repairing, refinishing, and reproducing many pieces.

William is survived by his five children, David Robert and his husband Paul Dube of Windsor, Janice Carter and her husband Charles of East Hartford, Tim Robert of Breakabeen, NY, Phil Robert, and his wife Deborah of Storrs, and "the Baby of the Family" Chris Robert and his wife Julie of Stafford. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Charlotte, Jeff, Michael, Daniel, Vicki, Zach, Alex, and Diana, and 11 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers Victor, George, Joe, John, James, and Louis Robert, and by his sisters Marion Case, Grace Wrobel, and Ruth Lombardo, and special friend Alice Kalas.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Ellington Congregational Church, Ellington.

Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Ellington Center Cemetery.
