WILLIAM RUTHVEN OF BALLINDEAN
William Ruthven of Ballindean is the only son of William, first Lord Ruthven, and his second wife Christian Forbes. On 24 March 1519 William Ruthven of Ballendean had a liferent from the barony of Libertoun from his father, William, Lord Ruthven. NRS: GD122/1/291 Alexander Dalmahoy, baron of Libertoun, confirmed the grant of William, Lord Ruthven. and his wife Christian Forbes, four days later. NRS: GD122/1/292
On 26 January 1527-28 William Ruthven of Ballindean had a feu charter for the town of Kettins from John, Earl of Buchan. In this charter he is identified as the son of William, first Lord Ruthven, and his second wife Christian Forbes. He and his wife Agnes Crichton had a charter for Blackferkill on 11 June 1537. On 10 June 1540 he resigned his lands for a new grant to himself and his heirs male, with remainders to James, Henry, William and Alexander, sons of William, second Lord Ruthven.
